Georgian Chinese influence stoelSOLD
This is actually a very rare chair, it is Georgian so it is from the late 18th or early 19th century, has the very clear Chinese influences in the carving on the legs of which Thomas Chippendale was so well known in 1780, from the construction and the quality of the mahogany, it suggests that it has a slightly provincial origion, so not a London maker but probably a Nrth of England maker, who was striving to replicate the fashions in London.
It has a lovely patina and has never been french polished but has a wax finish, joints have been re-glued and were anyway in a good state of repair.
size : 60cm x 55cm x 97cm high.
