William and Mary walnut chest on standSOLD
€ POA
This is a very fine rare late 17th century William and Mary period chest on stand, lovely pattined surfaces alround, book matched veneers, herringbone bandings.
Handles are slightly later Queem Anne engraved plates, holes are clearly visible where the origional earlier drops were fixed, further it is remarkably origional saving the turnings which look to have been renewed in the Victorian period,( that is normal) to a very high standard I must add.
Carcase and drawers appears to be pine and cherry wood and is all origional, finish is French polish probably first applied in the 19th century, has been lightly cleaned and re applied to improve the high gloss finish that reveals the depth of colour only to be found in these early walnut pieces.
Price on application.
