Rosewood bureau bookcaseSOLD
This is a stunning piece 18th century George III circa 1790, very remarkable in being made from Indian Rosewood, probably one of the earliest pieces around from rosewood as rosewood was generally used in the early 19th century for smaller pieces of furniture because it was very expensive.
I have never seen a bureau bookcase of this type in rosewood usually being from mahognay, walnut or oak, it has just been restored and has been totally re French polished to a high gloss finish which brings out the lovely mellow browns, reds and blacks in the grain, was a very long job , 40 hours!
This is one of a kind, and very rare .
size : 110cm x 57cm x 240cm high.
